The reading features actors with scripts-in-hand and a musician or two presenting the songs alongside the dystopian adventure. The event will run approximately 3 hours including a talkback where audience members are encouraged to share their experience with the show.

An epic play, an apocalyptic concert, a queer coming of age journey, Flower & Ash is a dystopian folk gospel set fifteen years after the Fall of America. This gripping theatrical event follows two young survivors on a collision course across a broken nation. Discovering their authentic (super) powers, they journey across a treacherous landscape to forge an unbreakable chosen family of rebels, outcasts, and eccentric survivors. An onstage folk/roots wasteland band deconstructs the narrative, a mythic Greek chorus blending the raw intimacy of a live concert with a blockbuster, original story. Flower & Ash delivers a message of radical hope and a powerfully relevant examination of what it means to be truly American.
